Ozuno is pleased to announce that RAPIX DALI input units are now DALI-2 certified.
This includes all RAPIX Occupancy Sensors, Light Level Sensors, Switches and the Universal Switch Input.
The following RAPIX products are now DALI-2 certified:

What does this mean?
Non-RAPIX systems: DALI-2 systems from other manufacturers
RAPIX Input Devices (Switches and Sensors) can be used in any DALI-2 lighting system.
RAPIX Sensors
Any vendor of a system with Application Controllers that support DALI-2 sensors can use RAPIX sensors.
RAPIX Sensors use these DALI-2 Instance Types:
- Instance Type 3 – Occupancy / Movement.
- Instance Type 4 – Light Level Sensor part, for those products that include level level sensing capability.
- Instance Type 1 – Switch input, acting as Push Button Switch, for those products that include a switch input.
RAPIX Switches and Universal Switch Input
Any vendor of a system with Application Controllers that support DALI-2 push button switches can use RAPIX push button switch products and the Universal Switch Input.
RAPIX Push Button switches use these DALI-2 Instance Types:
- Instance Type 1 – Push Button Switch
Any system with Application Controllers that support DALI-2 absolute inputs can use a RAPIX rotary dial.
RAPIX Rotary switches use these DALI-2 Instance Types:
- Instance Type 1 – Push Button Switch (applicable when the dial is pushed)
- Instance Type 2 – Absolute Input (applicable when the dial is rotated)
RAPIX Systems
When RAPIX Addressing or RAPIX Integrator are used to perform commissioning, the same functions that have always been available in RAPIX switches and sensors continue to be available.
This means that the sensors and switches continue to be use their small built-in Application Controllers. These controllers co-operate with each other and other RAPIX products to provide the additional resilience that RAPIX systems have always provided.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have a site with pre-DALI-2 RAPIX products in. Can I still commission this?
YES.
RAPIX Integrator and RAPIX Addressing maintain compatibility with previous release products. The software supports and still works with all RAPIX pre-DALI-2 products.
Just open the project and scan the line as you have always done.
I have new RAPIX DALI-2 switches and sensors. How do I commission these?
If using our RAPIX Addressing or RAPIX Integrator software:
- Open the project or make a new project just like you normally do.
- Connect and scan the DALI line.
- DALI-2 switches and sensor products will be given DALI-2 Input Device short addresses.
- After that, set them up the same way you did before.
If using our switches and sensors with someone else’s system, use their commissioning software just as you would normally.
I have a site with your pre-DALI-2 RAPIX products. Can I add the newer RAPIX DALI-2 switches and sensors?
YES.
RAPIX Integrator and Addressing can work with a DALI lighting control system that has mixed RAPIX pre-DALI-2 and DALI-2 switches and sensors. They will have different addresses (Extended addresses and DALI-2 Input Device addresses), but this has no effect on operation.
It is important to update the firmware of any RAPIX Zone Controllers.
Can I use your RAPIX DALI-2 switches and sensors in someone else's DALI-2 lighting control system?
YES.
These products are DALI-2 certified.
Just check the relevant standards compliance of the Application Controller you are using to make sure it works with the DALI-2 standard part 3xx that applies to the RAPIX DALI-2 product you are considering.
Can I use DALI-2 switches and sensors from someone else in a RAPIX system?
YES.
RAPIX Integrator and Addressing can scan, detect and address products from any manufacturer with DALI-2 certified products that operate according to the DALI-2 standards. This includes “go-mobile” address assignment for Input Devices, and activation of Identification functions.
After addressing, you can use RAPIX templates that execute in a RAPIX Zone Controller. This creates a lighting “action” upon Control Gear when the Input Devices detect movement, button presses, and so on.
Mixed systems comprising RAPIX DALI-2 products and the DALI-2 products of other manufacturers are possible and supported.
Do I need fresh training?
MAYBE.
If you feel you need to know more about DALI-2 Input Devices, get in touch so we can schedule training updates.
Can I update the firmware of an existing RAPIX switch or sensor to make it DALI-2?
NO.
Although this can be done by Ozuno, is it not encouraged for Systems Integrators to do this.
In general terms, if an existing installation is working OK we encourage you to leave it alone.
How do I know what DALI-2 products will work in a RAPIX system?
Look for the DALI-2 logo marking. Check the listed certification of the product at the DALI Alliance product database.
RAPIX Zone Controllers will work with:
- IEC 62386-301, Instance Type 1 – Push Buttons
- IEC 62386-302, Instance Type 2 – Absolute Input Device (binary and level)
- IEC 62386-303, Instance Type 3 – Occupancy Sensor
- IEC 62386-304, Instance Type 4 – Light Sensor
RAPIX Zone Controllers do not work with Instance Type 0 (Generic Input).
Where can I find out more about DALI-2?
Check out our Systems Integrators Technical Guide to DALI-2.
Is the eHub also updated to DALI-2 certified?
No.
The eHub has always been a multi-master device and is DALI registered. There are no plans to upgrade this product to DALI-2 certified. It will work as an application controller as it always has in the past.
