What is the allowable Voltage drop across a DALI Line?
The quick answer is: The voltage drop must be less than 2 V dc.
To measure:
- Take a reading at the DALI power supply and note it down.
- Take a reading at the far end of any runs on that DALI Line. This reading there will be lower, and must be no lower then 2 V dc below the reading at the power supply.
If you wire using the recommended 1.5 mm² cable and run it for less than 300 m then voltage drop should never be a problem.
If the volt drop is close to or more than 2V dc: this suggests a problem with one or more of the DALI Line connections having a high resistance. That bad connection will need to be found and fixed for satisfactory operation.
