How to control trailing edge phase dimmable light fittings on a DALI Lighting Control System

RAPIX DALI Adaptive Phase Dimmer - Wiring Diagram

The question always gets asked: how do we control our trailing edge phase dimmable light fittings on a DALI Lighting Control System?

The answer is much easier than sometimes thought.

Every lighting control system is different, and in the past some of the more traditional lighting control systems had a dedicated leading edge, trailing edge and or universal dimmer solution that allowed for control of these using dimmable lighting groups.

Fast forward to today – while a lot of the traditional systems are still around; more and more DALI systems are being installed. Often, around 95% of a project is completed utilising DALI fittings, but sometimes there is a small portion of lighting that might not be compatible with DALI drivers and in which case a phase dimmable driver is supplied.

So the question remains: how do we add these phase dimmable fittings to a DALI system?

The resolution: use a quality DALI Trailing Edge Phase Dim Controller such as the RAPIX DALI 400w Adaptive Phase Dimmer.

This RAPIX DALI 400w Adaptive Phase Dimmer is compatible with all good DALI systems and is wired directly onto the DALI Line alongside all your other DALI devices.

It is then connected to the 240v ac line and load side to control the switching and dimming of the phase dimmable fittings. No neutral is required at the DALI phase dimmer.
